Progressive Slots

When it comes to enormous jackpots, even some of the biggest online poker pots don't get bigger than many of the progressive online slot jackpots.  The reason is that progressive slots work in such a way as to combine a percentage of every wager made at many slot machines into one jackpot.  The jackpot does not span over different slot games, but it does span over several online casinos offering the same progressive slot game to its players.  Progressive slots are very popular amongst online casino gamblers these days, which is good to say the least, for the more players there is, the more wagers, and ultimately the more jackpot there is to win.

Besides bringing a large number of bettors together in one pool, another reason progressive slot jackpots are so high is because they bring in more money per wager than regular online slots.  Progressive slots have more than one pay-line, with each pay-line serving as a single wager.  A minimum amount is required to bet on the first pay-line, second pay-line and so on.  In order to bet on multiple pay-lines, the pay-lines preceding the one to be wagered on must be bet on as well.  As a result, one spin of the slot machine can have multiple bets riding on it, depending on the number of pay-lines.  And just as a pay-line preceding another pay-line must be bet on, in order to be eligible for the progressive jackpot, a player must wager the maximum amount per each spin - Meaning they must bet the maximum bet on each pay-line, per each spin.  If a slot player fails to bet the maximum, and their reel strikes the jackpot combo, they will not receive the jackpot winnings.  All progressive slot machines work that way, so there is no use trying to find a game that does not operate under this guideline.

On the other hand, the player will receive a portion of the secondary jackpot.  Most progressive jackpots actually have a secondary jackpot much lower in amount, for awarding players who do not want to wager for the primary jackpot every spin.  If you have not determined your slot of choice, and any machine and betting amount looks good to you, it is a good idea to look for as lofty a secondary jackpot as it is to do so for a primary progressive jackpot.  The larger the jackpot gets, the sooner it will bust.
